Let’s be honest…
Valentine’s Day can be a weird one.
It can feel commercial. It’s definitely a little cheesy. It’s full of red hearts and special dinners and social media posts.
For some, it is a great day to focus on relationships, but I would say for most, it is just another day.
But… what if we used it differently?
What if Valentine’s Day wasn’t just about roses, or romance, or someone else buying you chocolate?
What if this year, it was about you… learning to actually love the body you live in?
Most people think fitness is about change.
Lose weight. Get stronger. Feel better in your jeans. Be disciplined.
And sure, those things matter.
But real, lasting change doesn’t come from self-judgement. Or shame. Or punishment.
It comes from something deeper.
Because you can’t hate yourself into a body you love.
That’s the lie diet culture sold us: if you just tried harder, restricted more, had more willpower…
then…then you’d finally be proud of yourself and happy in your body.
But that approach only fuels burnout. It disconnects you from your body. It leaves you constantly chasing something “better” without ever feeling like you’re enough.
I know this because I’ve lived it.
For years, I tried everything.
I worked out twice a day. I tracked every bite of food. I punished my body with intensity and restriction.
And still… I was frustrated. My body was tired. And injuries were starting to line up.
I felt like I was doing everything “right,” and yet my body wasn’t responding, it was actually breaking down.
It wasn’t until I stopped pushing my body that things started to shift.
I started listening.
When I felt tired, I rested.
When I felt strong, I pushed.
I honored the feedback my body gave me, instead of ignoring it in the name of discipline.
I changed the way I trained. I gave myself permission to slow down. To trust my own cues. To recover.
And something incredible happened.
My body responded.
I lost 75 pounds over 18 months… but not because I tortured myself into transformation.
It was because I created safety.
I created consistency.
And I created love.
Kara’s story is a lot like mine.
When Kara joined Cobra Command, she had goals: lose weight, get strong, feel good again.
She had tried other things, and like so many people, she was tired of starting over.
But Kara kept showing up.
She discovered what her body could do.
She started lifting… like a LOT (hello… she’s our C3 Strongest Woman for 2025!)
She found strength she didn’t know she had.
She realized that her body wasn’t the problem…. it was her expectations of how she “should” get results.
And once she let go of that pressure?
Everything shifted.
She’s now down over 40 pounds (last we checked, I am willing to bet it is even more now!)…
but what’s more important is how she carries herself.
She’s soo much more confident. She is crazy Powerful. She knows she is capable both in the gym and outside.
And that didn’t come from punishing her body into shape… it came from partnering with it, and falling in love with what it is capable of.
This Valentine’s Day, we’re not giving you a heart-shaped workout plan or a sugar-free dessert recipe.
We’re offering you something more meaningful:
An invitation.
To stop believing your body is “broken”.
To stop waiting to feel worthy until you “lose the weight.”
To stop waiting til you are “in-shape” to start.
To fall in love with the process of taking care of yourself.
And yes… your body will change.
Because loved bodies respond better than punished ones.
Here’s your challenge this week:
Instead of focusing on what you wish was different about your body, write down three things you love about it.
Yes, right now.
Even if it feels awkward. Even if your inner critic chimes in. Even if you’re not sure you believe it yet.
Try.
Maybe it’s how strong your legs are from carrying your kids.
Maybe it’s how your arms can lift groceries (and kettlebells).
Maybe it’s the fact that your body is still showing up, through everything life has thrown at you.
Start there.
And if you’re ready to take the next step?
We’re here for that too.
💪 We’ll help you get stronger.
📈 We’ll help you build consistency.
❤️ And we’ll remind you, on the hard days and the good ones, that your body is not the problem.
It’s your starting point.
And it deserves to be strong, capable, and cared for.
Let’s make this the year you love your body enough to take care of it.
Because it’s yours.
And that’s reason enough.
