There’s a version of Kathy from ten months ago that I want you to picture.
She had never trained for a long endurance event. She wasn’t a HYROX athlete. She wasn’t in HYROX shape. She was an athlete, but not something quite like this. What she had was a date on the calendar and a willingness to do something about it.
She had signed up for a HYROX team event in Dallas. Her first one. She wanted to train for it the right way, not just wing it. So she walked into Cobra Command, asked for help, and started.
Ten months later, almost everything about her training life looks different.
What Kathy actually did
Kathy did the unglamorous thing first. She booked the No Sweat Intro to come in and talk about her goals, and what option would fit her busy life as a mom.
Then she got into classes. Our 7AM HYROX classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays to be exact. And then she sprinkled in our Saturday 8AM classes when her life allowed it. She showed up consistently. She trusted her coach. She listened to feedback. She scaled when she needed to scale and pushed when it was time to push.
That’s the part that doesn’t fit on a transformation post. The slow, steady, weekly version of a person becoming someone who can finish and CRUSH a HYROX race.
When Dallas came, she went. She raced. She finished her first HYROX with her team. And then she did the thing that surprises us every time.
She didn’t disappear after the race.
What happened after Dallas
A lot of people sign up for an event, train for it, hit the day, and then drift back to whatever they were doing before. The race becomes the peak. Then they slide.
Kathy went the other way.
She became a regular at our HYROX training club. Her engine, her strength, and her overall fitness have come up so dramatically that the version of her from ten months ago feels like a different person. She’s built real friendships with the people she trains with. She shows up not because she has a race to peak for, but because Cobra is where she trains now. It’s part of the rhythm of her life.
And, in the kind of news that makes a coach grin, she’s expecting another baby in the middle of all this. We get to keep coaching her through pregnancy, through return to training postpartum, and through whatever she signs up for next. That’s the part of coaching that nobody puts on a flyer. The long arc. The decades version. The reason this work is worth doing.
What this means if you’ve been thinking about it
If you’ve been on the fence about HYROX, or about Cobra, or about training in general, Kathy’s arc is the reason I keep coming back to one core truth.
You don’t have to be ready to start.
You don’t have to be in HYROX shape to train for HYROX. You don’t have to be an athlete to walk into a coaching gym. You don’t have to know what you’re doing. You just need a date on the calendar and a coach who knows what they’re doing.
That’s what we do at Cobra. We meet you where you are and we build the bridge from there to wherever you want to go.
Some members come in for HYROX. Some come in for strength. Some come in to lose weight, to feel better, to keep up with their kids, to age strong, to recover from a long break. Most come in for one thing and stay for ten.
That’s the arc. That’s the story Kathy is living. That’s the story we want to help you start.
Free Community Week starts June 1
Free Community Week is June 1 through June 6. Every class is free that week. CrossFit, HYROX, Semi-Private, Kids, Teens. Pick the one that fits the goal you’ve been quietly thinking about, and come in.
If HYROX is the goal, come to a HYROX class. We’re an Official HYROX Training Club. You’ll be coached, scaled, and welcomed. If you don’t know yet, come to a CrossFit class. CrossFit is one of the strongest ways to build the engine and the strength a HYROX race demands.
If you’ve been thinking about it for a while, this is the week to walk in.

Ten months from now, you could have a story like Kathy’s. Ten months from now you’ll wish you’d started. The version of you ten months from now is built right here, this week, this class, this conversation.
See you in the gym.
