Our Yoga for Athletes program requires no experience…or yoga pants! Our all-level yoga classes are not “athletic” classes––they are not designed to be a workout. Instead, they are sequenced to complement athletic activity. A regular yoga practice can help you regain balance and realign you with movement. Our classes focus on increasing mobility and flexibility using functional movement, and develop your concentration and breath to improve mental endurance. But, that’s not to say that you won’t occasionally break a little sweat in our classes!
Our instructors are experienced athletes who have formally studied the anatomical and functional elements of yoga specific to athletes. They sequence yoga classes to target flexibility and mobility in hips, legs, shoulders, spine, wrists and ankles, as well as the back and neck. Combining movement with strength, our instructors design their classes to help prevent injury by addressing imbalances that might exist as the result of overuse, repetitive movement, or over training. Additionally, they offer variations and modifications for anyone who may be nursing an injury or who has never taken a yoga class.
The pace of our classes vary––some are more strength-based (think vinyasa or power yoga) and infused with movement, breath, and martial arts, while others are more restorative (think gentle or Yin yoga) in nature focusing on opening muscles and fascia using long, slow, supported holds.
Our classes can be tailored specifically to teams, groups, or individuals with specific cross-training needs. Whether your sport is golf, tennis, football, soccer, running, swimming, volleyball, or CrossFit, our yoga classes will help you develop and maintain flexibility, balance, and mobility to improve your form, efficiency, and power.
It doesn’t matter if you are a brand new student, or a seasoned athlete, we have classes to meet your needs and approachable, friendly, and knowledgeable instructors to guide you through your practice.
