From Intimidated Beginner to Confident Athlete: Sammy’s Journey at C3

When Sammy first stepped through the doors of Cobra Command CrossFit, she wasn’t just looking for a workout—she was looking for purpose.

At 24 years old, Sammy was in that in-between stage of life. She missed the camaraderie and challenge that team sports once gave her. She wanted to stay active, feel strong, and connect with something meaningful. But like many people, she wasn’t sure where to begin.

And the barbell? That was a hard maybe.

But Sammy did what few people do: she walked in anyway.

A Brave First Step

Instead of waiting for the “perfect time,” Sammy booked a No Sweat Intro, met with one of our coaches, and signed up on the spot. Not just for group classes, but also for personal training. She knew she wanted support, structure, and guidance—and she wasn’t afraid to invest in herself.

“There was no better time than now to get after my fitness,” she told us.

And get after it she did.

Sammy dove headfirst into our Fundamentals program—a structured, confidence-building introduction to CrossFit. Designed to teach foundational movements, safety, and proper technique, our Fundamentals gave her exactly what she needed to not just show up, but thrive.

Over time, that intimidating barbell became her favorite piece of equipment.

Fast forward four years, and Sammy is stronger, fitter, and more confident than she’s ever been.

She hit a huge personal record on her clean and jerk this year. She crushed her pull-up goals during the CrossFit Open. And she continues to build on her progress every week, both in classes and through personalized training sessions.

But what’s most impressive isn’t just her physical growth—it’s the way that strength has transformed her life.

She’s more confident at work. She’s more adventurous outside of the gym. She’s joined a women’s golf league, participates in local races and fitness events, and lives a lifestyle built around movement, joy, and resilience.

Sammy’s journey didn’t just change her—it changed the people around her.

Her mom now trains with her at Cobra Command. Her aunt, cousins, and even nieces and nephews have all joined her for classes. Her dad? He’s in the process of signing up.
