From starting & stopping to 40lbs down

From Starting & Stopping to 40 Pounds Down: Adam’s Story at Cobra Command

If you’ve ever felt like you just can’t stick with fitness… this is for you.

Because what I’m about to share is something I see all the time.

And almost nobody talks about it honestly.

Why It Feels So Hard to Stay Consistent With Fitness

You start.

You get motivated.
You tell yourself, “This time is going to be different.”

You commit to the gym.
You try to clean up your nutrition.
You feel good for a few weeks.

And then life happens.

Work gets busy.
Your schedule shifts.
You miss a few days.

And suddenly… you’re off track again.

If you’ve been struggling to stay consistent with fitness, you’re not alone.

Most people don’t fail because they don’t care.

They fail because they’re trying to do it alone.

Adam’s Story: From Starting Over to Finally Getting It Right

Adam had done CrossFit before.

He wasn’t new to working out. He wasn’t someone who didn’t care about his health.

But like a lot of people, he couldn’t seem to make it stick.

About four years ago, Adam found Cobra Command, a CrossFit gym in Basehor, Kansas, and started in group classes.

And at first… it looked pretty familiar.

He’d start strong.
Then fall off.
Life would happen.
He’d disappear for a bit…
Then come back and try again.

Over and over.

Not because he didn’t want it.

But because group classes alone weren’t enough for what he needed.

The Shift That Changed Everything

About a year into his membership, we made a shift.

Adam started working more closely with a coach in our semi-private training program.

This is where everything changed.

He didn’t just get workouts.

He got:

A clear plan
Accountability
Guidance tailored to his goals

And most importantly… someone on his team.

When Adam started working with us in this setting, he was very aware of his body.

He felt it in how he moved.
He felt it in his energy.
And he felt it in the limitations it created in his life.

He also had some significant hip mobility restrictions and felt stuck when it came to nutrition.

He had tried multiple nutrition programs before. Nothing really clicked.

Everything felt like too much.

How We Built Consistency (Without Overwhelming Him)

So we didn’t try to fix everything at once.

We focused on one thing:

Consistency.

Adam committed to coming to the gym twice a week.

That was it.

No extreme changes. No overhaul.

Just show up.

And slowly, things started to shift.

His movement improved.
His lifts got cleaner.
He started hitting small PRs.

But more importantly, he started building trust in the process.

The Next Step: Simple Nutrition That Actually Worked

Once that consistency was locked in, we layered in nutrition.

But we kept it simple.

We didn’t start with calories or macros.

We started with one thing:

Protein.

That’s it.

That small shift started to move the scale.

And more importantly, it felt manageable.

Over time, we added more structure.

Leveling Up: More Training, More Results

Eventually, Adam added a third workout each week and started coming back into group CrossFit classes.

And something interesting happened.

He started to enjoy it.

He looked forward to training.

He felt more confident in what he was doing.

Then in the past year, we really dialed everything in.

We adjusted his calorie intake based on his body.
We increased his food instead of restricting it.
We kept his training consistent at three days per week.

And everything took off.

The Results: Strength, Confidence, and 40 Pounds Down

Adam has now:

PR’d all of his major lifts
Built strength and mobility
And lost 40 pounds

But honestly?

That’s not the best part.

The Real Win: Getting His Life Back

Adam is an outdoorsy, adventurous guy.

But for a long time, his body limited what he could do.

There were experiences he wanted to have… but couldn’t.

Weight restrictions on activities.
Limits on certain adventures.
Things he had to sit out.

That’s gone now.

He’s under those limits.

He can do the things he’s always wanted to do.

And just a few weeks ago, he sent me a message that said:

“I’ve really enjoyed this whole process… and I’m excited to keep going.”
