You sit in a room with other women, you learn how an entire muscle system (potentially the most important one) in your body actually works, and you practice using it. Nobody examines you, nobody asks you to share anything, you keep your clothes on and there is no compromising position stretches for movements (unless you think happy baby is weird LOL).
I’m writing this one because I’ve had the same conversation four or five times since we announced FLOOR WORK, and it’s never about the money or the date. It’s some version of “…what is it, though?” said in a slightly lower voice.
So here’s exactly what it’s gonna look like.
Why we’re running this workshop in the first place
A woman who has been training here for two years quietly starts scaling her double unders. Another one picks the workout without running in it, every single time. Nobody says why, and I’m not going to put anyone on the spot in the middle of a class. But I feel the embarrassment, the shame, the surrender.
So we made a place where the pelvic floor can be the actual topic. In a safe, confined space with other women where you can learn on purpose.
Tiff and I are running it together. She’s a certified pre and postpartum coach, which is where most of what the fitness world knows about this actually comes from. I’ve taught a lot of this work myself. Between us you’re getting the science and the practice, from two people who are going to be completely normal about all of it.
Nobody is going to make you talk about your business
This is the fear, and I want to shut it down up front.
You will not go around the circle and share your most embarrassing stories. There’s no intake form asking how many kids you’ve had or what happens when you sneeze.
You come in, you sit down, you learn, and you practice. If you want to ask a question you can, and if you’d rather sit quietly and take it all in, that’s fine too.
Some of the women who come will have symptoms. Some won’t. Both are totally fine.
What you’ll actually do for TWO hours
Session 1 is Sunday, September 20, 9am to 11am.
We start with how the thing is built. Where your pelvic floor sits, what it connects to, and why it’s the floor of a system that includes your diaphragm and your deep abs. It was never an isolated muscle down there.
Then we work on finding it. Most women have genuinely never been taught to feel this, and that’s not a failing, it’s just that nobody ever showed you. We like to call it RBCs… Rest, Breathe, Connect.
Then we practice letting go. This is the piece that surprises people. Everyone arrives expecting to squeeze, and a good chunk of the session is learning to release, because for a lot of women the problem is a floor that never fully relaxes.
And we tie it to breath, which is where it starts clicking. Your breath and your pelvic floor move together whether you’re paying attention or not.
That’s it. Learning, feeling, practicing, breathing.
What to wear and bring
Normal workout clothes, the ones you’d wear to any class. A mat if you have a favorite, though we have plenty. Water.
You’ll be on the floor some of the time, sitting and lying down. There is no workout. You will not be sweaty or sore when you leave.
Session 2 is the gym part
Sunday, October 4, 9am to 12pm.
That one takes everything from Session 1 and puts it under load. How to brace for a heavy squat without bearing down, what your breath should do at the top of a max effort, and how to get back to box jumps and double unders.
They’re built to stack, so if you can do both, do both. But Session 1 stands on its own and it’s the foundation, so if you only pick one, pick that one.
“I don’t have symptoms, is this for me?”
Yes, and honestly this might be the best reason to come.
Everything in Session 2 is just good mechanics. How to brace properly, how to manage pressure under a heavy bar, how to breathe on a hard effort. That makes you a better lifter whether or not anything is currently going wrong.
And if you’re heading toward perimenopause, tissue changes are about to make all of this a lot more relevant than it was at 25. Learning it now is a whole lot easier than sorting it out later.
