One of the really fun parts of coaching is watching the moment when something clicks for someone.
When they stop just “working out”… and start realizing how fitness actually improves their life.
That’s exactly what happened with one of our members, Will Bardwell.
Will has been part of Cobra Command for about a year and a half now. And one of the first things he noticed after starting to train consistently was how much easier it made one of his favorite hobbies.
Will is an avid hunter.
We’re talking long days in the mountains: hiking miles, shed hunting across big terrain, and navigating rugged ground, sometimes in places like the mountains of Colorado or Utah.
Not easy work.
But once Will started training regularly, he realized something.
Those long hikes were getting easier.
He felt stronger.
He had more endurance.
He moved better across tough terrain.
And that’s when it clicked.
If fitness could improve his ability to do the things he loved outdoors, it was probably going to make a difference in other parts of his life too.
Which brings us to Will’s day job.
Will owns his own tile business (W.B. Tile), which means his work is physical all day long. He’s carrying heavy materials, getting up and down off the floor constantly, and putting in long hours on his feet.
His body is his livelihood.
The more consistently he trained, the more he noticed the difference.
Work felt easier.
His body felt stronger.
He had more energy at the end of the day.
So about a year ago, Will decided to take things to the next level.
He started showing up four to five days a week.
He began taking his nutrition more seriously. He set up a nutrition consult, worked with his doctor to better understand his body’s needs, and paired that with consistent gym training.
And the results have been incredible: Will lost weight, gained muscle and became a staple.
Then in the past few months, Will took things even further.
He started hybrid training, working with a coach for personal training sessions alongside his regular classes.
And that’s when things really started to take off.
In just the last few months:
Will has PR’d every major lift.
Back squat.
Deadlift.
Press.
Bench press.
Clean & jerk.
All of them.
In one personal training session he learned double unders.
In another session he mastered strict & kipping pull-ups.
And during the CrossFit Open workout 26.2, Will strung together multiple pull-ups in the middle of the workout.
That’s the power of working with a coach who helps you get clear on your goals and gives you the right progressions to get there.
But what I love most about Will’s journey is that it perfectly reflects the philosophy we believe in at Cobra Command.
Command Your Fitness
Find a style of training that you enjoy and build consistency with it.
Command Your Nutrition
Learn what fuels your body and supports your goals.
Command Your Life
When your health, strength, and energy improve, everything else becomes possible.
And that’s exactly what we’re seeing with Will.
Recently, Will and I even sat down to talk about goals for his business, because the confidence and momentum he’s built in the gym has him ready to take things to the next level in other areas of his life too.
That’s what this is really about.
It’s about building the strength, confidence, and momentum to change your life.
Will, I’m incredibly proud of you. Watching your journey has been amazing.
And if you need motivation, just talk to Will.
If you’re a member at Cobra Command, you’ll see him in the gym, ask him about his experience. He’s always happy to share it.
And if you’re reading this and you’re not part of the Cobra Command community yet…
Come check it out.
The best way to start is a Free No Sweat Intro, where we sit down, talk about your goals, and help you build a plan that works for your life.
You might be surprised what happens when you decide to go all in.
