Fill out the form to get started
So, you’re thinking about trying CrossFit for the first time. Maybe you’ve seen a friend post a sweaty post-WOD pic, driven by Cobra Command a few times, or you’re just ready to finally feel better in your body. But if we had to guess, you’re probably feeling a mix of excitement and nervous energy.
Let’s be honest—starting something new, especially something that seems a little intense, can be intimidating. But that’s where this post comes in. We’re here to break it down for you and show you why your first CrossFit class might just be the most empowering hour of your week.
Here’s exactly what to expect—and why Cobra Command is the place to begin.
First Things First: You Don’t Need to Be in Shape to Start
This is the #1 myth we hear from people thinking about trying CrossFit: “I’ll start once I get into shape.”
But let us be clear: CrossFit is how you get into shape. We meet you where you are—no matter your fitness level, age, or background. Whether you haven’t worked out in 5 years or you’re a weekend warrior looking to improve performance, we customize every movement to fit YOU.
At Cobra Command, you’ll never be left to figure things out alone. From day one, our coaches will guide you through a tailored version of the workout so you can feel confident, safe, and supported.
The Vibe: Welcoming, Not Judgy
When you walk into Cobra Command for your first class, you’re not entering a room full of elite athletes staring you down. You’re walking into a tight-knit, friendly, and supportive community that wants you to succeed.
We take our mission seriously—helping everyday people (like you) live stronger, healthier lives. That means celebrating first-time rope climbs and box jumps just as hard as we do someone’s 300lb deadlift. Your wins are our wins.
What to Bring (and What to Expect)
Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ll need to bring:
- A water bottle
- Athletic shoes
- Comfortable workout clothes
- A positive attitude (corny, but true)
When you arrive, we’ll greet you, give you a tour, and get you signed in. Then you’ll head into class where the coach will walk you through a:
- Dynamic Warm-Up – This isn’t just stretching—it’s functional movement designed to prep your body for what’s ahead.
- Skill/Strength Portion – Here’s where we might work on things like squats, deadlifts, presses, or bodyweight technique. Again, everything is scaled to your level.
- Workout of the Day (WOD) – This is where the sweat happens. It’s typically 8–20 minutes long, combining strength and cardio movements.
- Cool Down – Mobility and recovery exercises to help you leave feeling better than when you walked in.
Don’t worry if you don’t know what a “thruster” or “AMRAP” is. That’s what your coach is for—and we’ll explain every movement and term before you start.
You’ll Be Coached Every Step of the Way
CrossFit isn’t a DIY workout. Your coach is your guide, cheerleader, and movement expert. They’ll help correct your form, scale exercises to your ability, and push you when you need it (in a good way).
At Cobra Command, we pride ourselves on our coaching-first approach. We care more about your movement quality and long-term progress than we do about the leaderboard.
The Aftermath: You’ll Feel Accomplished (and Probably Sore)
Here’s the honest truth: you’re going to feel muscles you haven’t felt in a while. And that’s a good thing. That feeling? It’s your body waking up, growing stronger, and adapting.
Most importantly, you’ll leave feeling proud, energized, and probably wondering why you didn’t start sooner.
